Susquehanna Chapter
Wooden Canoe Heritage Association

A non-profit membership organization devoted to preserving, studying, building, restoring, and using wooden and bark canoes, and to disseminating information about canoeing heritage in central Pennsylvania.

A portion of the Shutz Diorama, Pennsylvania State Museum.

The Susquehanna River was named after the Susquehannock Indians. There were no trees with bark suitable for building canoes in the vicinity of the Susquehannah River, so dugout canoes were constructed for travel on the river.
